
Buffett announced that he would like to donate more than 80 percent of his assets to charitable foundations. By 2020, he increased the amount to a whopping 99 percent. Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, created by Bill Gates and Melinda (the Microsoft founder) was the main beneficiary. This foundation focused on global health and education. Bill and Buffett had been in contact since the 1990s. The three Buffett children as well as the Susan Thompson Buffett Foundation (named after his wife) were among those who received donations. They focused on women's reproductive rights, provided scholarships for college students, and also various other charitable organizations. In 2010 Buffett as well as Gates Gateses established the Giving Pledge, an invitation to wealthy people to give the bulk of their wealth to charitable causes.
